“Handyman” (Practical Support) Service
Older people often worry about where to get reliable and affordable help with jobs in and around the home, whether its decorating, keeping the garden tidy or just a matter of putting up some shelves in the kitchen. Here, too, Age Concern Bolton helps in a very practical way, by offering a high quality, reliable and affordable service, that’s popularly known as the handyman service.

We can help with:
- mowing the lawn
- cutting the hedge
- decorating
- fitting a security door chain
- fitting a light bulb or smoke alarm
- and many other small-scale DIY jobs or repairs.
We’ll sort it out as quickly as we can and at a price that’s fair and affordable. All jobs are done by our skilled and experienced handymen. Anyone using the service is told, in advance, how much the job will, or is likely to cost. Once the job’s been done all customers are asked to fill in a straightforward satisfaction questionnaire. This helps us to improve the service for others and, in the unlikely event of anyone being dissatisfied, helps us to remedy this, quickly and fairly.
Regrettably, there are some jobs we’re unable to tackle:
- any work involving gas
- electrical repairs
- any large-scale plumbing, joinery or building work.
If we can’t do the work ourselves, we do our best to guide customers on how to go about finding reputable tradespeople who can tackle these types of jobs.
For the added safety and reassurance of our customers, our handymen carry specific identification and all visits are made on an appointment only basis.
