Bolton's first ever Active Ageing Centre is now up and running! The centre is a new initiative which encourages and supports active and healthy lifestyles for people over 50 in North East Bolton and over time, all parts of the borough. The centre, located at Thicketford Community Care Centre in Tonge Moor, is the product of a partnership between Age Concern Bolton, Bolton Council and NHS Bolton.
The centre offers an attractive programme of health and well being activities with something for everyone, including a choice of exercise classes (at various levels), art, yoga, tai chi, line dancing and a range of different crafts. Activities are held both at the Thicketford centre and other community based venues in North East Bolton, with further activities being planned for later in the year. The programme will also be extended into other parts of Bolton.
The programme of activities reflects local older peoples wishes to get together with others to exercise regularly, to discover other means of keeping fit and active, or to try something new and, most importantly of all, to have some fun. So, whether you want to get fit, take a break, learn something new or enjoy your hobby with likeminded others then come into the centre to see what we have on offer. You’ll be assured of a warm welcome.
