Join our NEW South Turton Befriending Service |
|
Befriender – be a friend to a housebound and/or isolated older person in his or her own home, as part of our NEW “South Turton Befriending Service”. We need men and women (but especially men!), aged 18 and over, who have a friendly and caring manner, who can commit just 1 or 2 hours each week, daytime or evening, to befriend an older person living in the Bradshaw, Bromley Cross, Harwood and Top’th Brow areas. Typically, this might involve spending time with them in their home, or visiting the local library or pub together. No experience is required –just life experience. We need the help of qualified therapists to give their help and time on a voluntary basis. Age Concern Bolton will pay any required insurance costs.
We need help: Wednesday 9am - noon Lever Chambers, Bolton and Friday 1 - 4pm Blackrod Health Centre
Our Aromatherapy and Reflexology services are available to all older people (50+) and by appointment only. We are looking for help on a weekly basis to ensure our customers receive the regular treatment they enjoy and from which they benefit.
This is an excellent opportunity for people already qualified in either Aromatherapy or Reflexology who wish to maintain and enhance their skills. Can you spare 2 or 3 hours each week to share your knowledge, skills or passion in a particular subject, with people 50 years and over? If so we are waiting to hear from you. We need tutors and activity leaders to help in our modern, friendly and purpose built Learning and Resources Centre in Farnworth - click here for further details We already offer computer, photography, watercolours, drawing and painting, parchment craft, mixed paper crafts, Spanish, French, and German for beginners, music keyboard, poetry, movement to music, sequence dancing all of which are very popular and highly successful courses/activities. We need extra help with some of our currently run courses and are very keen to add new courses and activities to our programme. Don’t worry you do not necessarily need a formal teaching qualification, just the confidence to share your passion with like minded people and have fun. We would like to provide more classes, particularly – line dancing or similar, ballroom dancing, Tai chi, Yoga, gentle exercise/keep fit sessions, floral art, arts and crafts, music keyboard/guitar and literature groups, bridge sessions, singing/choral sessions, music appreciation, orienteering or perhaps just to share your special interest! So go on, give it a try!You’ll need a friendly, supportive manner, be proficient in the activity/subject you offer. These opportunities are available on various weekdays usually from 10.00a.m. – 12.00 noon or 1.00p.m. – 3.00p.m. or 2.00p.m. – 4.00p.m. Most courses run in 10 week blocks throughout the year.
